This week we have been thinking about the principle of ‘interdependence’ and how important it is that we work together and support each other whilst trying to reach our goals. We looked at examples from nature and the performing arts and realised that if one part of a whole stops working with the others, then things can go wrong. Mrs Smith set us a challenge in assembly using stepping stones and although the challenge sounded impossible at first, we realised that we could achieve it through communication, collaboration and supportive teamwork and we got there in the end!

The following children are always there to lend a helping hand and words of kindness and support when their friends face a challenge, working together to help themselves and their friends to reach their goals.

Well done to …

This week we have been thinking about how important it is to keep trying even when it’s difficult and we took our inspiration from Gerald the Giraffe in the story ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’.

Gerald was great at reaching the highest shoots on the tallest of trees, but not so good at dancing until he found the support he needed and the music he loved. The following children also show us their resilience and exemplary levels of perseverance at the trickiest of times, just like Gerald.

Well done to …

Molly – Grayling 1,  Caleb  – Meadow 1, Eden – Skipper 1, Ben – Grayling 2, Stevie – Meadow 2, Thomas – Skipper 2, Finley – Grayling 3,  Hector – Skipper 3, Zara – Grayling 4, Mia – Meadow 4, Celine  – Skipper 4

In assembly this week we decided to mark the start of a new decade with a focus on ‘dreaming big’. We used the launch of the Earthshot Prize to start to think about where we would be at the end of this new decade and travelled in time to the year 2030, imagining and proudly describing what we personally might have done during that time to repair and restore our beautiful earth.

The following children have shown us that they are determined to ‘dream big’ and to remain motivated even when things are more challenging. We are all very excited to see what they will achieve over the next decade with such a positive mindset.

Well done to …
