PPA Time – Planning, preparation and assessment time
PPA is a statutory entitlement which applies to all teachers who come within the remit of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).
PPA time is time set aside for teachers during their timetabled teaching day to allow them to carry out planning, preparation and assessment activities.
Teachers are entitled to a minimum of 10 per cent of the time they spend teaching their class, as PPA time.
At Damers we consider this time for teachers to work alongside their year team as most valuable. It enables them to plan, prepare and assess learning of the highest quality.
To enable us to provide this time for PPA we offer an alternative learning arrangement for year groups on different afternoons.
This academic year the provision for all year groups during PPA sessions will be classroom based. Our children will benefit from planned high quality curriculum activity whilst retaining the consistency and stability of classroom learning and established staff. Years F, 1 and 2 will remain with the same staff for the whole year. Years 3 and 4 will swap adults to maximise specialist staff skills every half term to deepen their learning which includes a mastery of essential skills in different curriculum areas.
